Call out for families and employees to celebrate our 25th year

We are embarking on a year-long celebration to mark our 25th year working in the south of England. To help with celebrations, we are calling out for past families, employees and volunteers to get in touch.

Daybreak was founded by Marilyn Taylor in 1999 to help embed the Māori practice of Family Group Conferences in Hampshire. Since then, we have worked alongside thousands of families and young people helping them to resolve challenges in their lives. Now, in our 25th year we are looking to share stories with our supporters that recognise and celebrate the impact of our work.

Have you been supported by the organisation as a family or individual?

Did they help you to move forward from a challenge that you were facing, or reconnect with lost loved ones?

Have you previously worked with Daybreak – perhaps as a Family Group Conference Coordinator, an advocate or a partnering organisation?

Over the years, we have worked with families in Hampshire, Wiltshire, Dorset, Sussex, and London predominately through facilitating Family Group Conferences. Family Group Conferences - or FGCs - are an opportunity to bring a support network together to create a safe plan of action to help resolve challenges. Specifically trained Coordinators facilitate conversations and decision-making – often reconnecting people with members of their support network or empowering them to find a way forward.

Our CEO, Debbie Burns shares: “We are excited to celebrate 25 years with everyone, and would welcome hearing from people who would be willing to share their experiences of Daybreak’s support, and the positive impact it had on them and their families.”

Stories and quotes would be shared and celebrated with Daybreak supporters and the general public throughout the year. People can get involved in a way that suits them, and support would be given to help those wanting to take part.

This is part of a wider set of celebrations that will also include the launch of a ’25-for-25’ fundraising event together with some special events and opportunities to learn more about and support the charity. More info coming soon. Follow us on social media to first out how you can get involved.
