Your Feedback & Views

Our vision is for a world where families and communities work together to make decisions and solve problems affecting their lives. In all our services, we aim to be led by the people and families we support. We value their voices and make space for them to be heard. We believe everyone should have the opportunity to influence the decisions that shape their lives.

These values shape how we run the charity. To make sure we listen to the communities we work with, we provide clear ways for people to share their views. Discover more below.

Feedback Surveys

For every service we run, we ask all participants to give us feedback. This helps us make sure we deliver high-quality services. We read and review every comment, and we use this feedback to improve our organisation and our practice.

We also have a Feedback and Suggestions Box that anyone can use at any time. To provide general feedback, complete our Feedback & Suggestions Form.

Voice Panels

We have three different Voice Panels. These are volunteer roles where people use their lived experience to give Daybreak their feedback and insights. The Voice Panels help our teams make decisions that reflect the voices of our community.

You can download our Voice Panels Information Pack for more details. To apply to any panel, fill in this short online form.

Joining the panel takes only a small amount of time, because we want to make it easy for people to participate. Taking part involves:

  • Filling in a short online form to request to join

  • Having a brief, informal phone call with our team to learn more and ask questions

  • Receiving occasional emails asking for feedback or answers to questions. Responding is completely voluntary, and you can choose what you reply to

  • Occasionally being invited to take part in other opportunities, like surveys or focus groups

Over time, we may change how we involve the Voice Panels in our decision-making. We will always keep you updated, and you can opt out at any time.

Family Voice Panel

The Family Voice Panel is for people who have experienced situations that our services aim to prevent or reduce.

The Family Voice Panel is looking for a diverse mix of people who meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Have experienced one or more Adverse Childhood Experiences* as a child or young person

  • Have parented a child who has experienced one or more Adverse Childhood Experiences*

  • Have experience of the care system as a child, young person, or family member

  • Have been supported by Children’s Social Services as a child, young person, or parent

  • Would be eligible for one of our community programs, such as a parent living in Portsmouth who could join our Dragonfly project

You do not need to have been supported by Daybreak to join the Family Voice Panel.

*Adverse Childhood Experiences, or ACEs, are potentially traumatic events that occur in childhood. It can include, but is not limited to, situations involving abuse, neglect, trauma or loss. More information on Adverse Childhood Experiences can be found from the Early Intervention Foundation.

Professional Voice Panel

The Professional Voice Panel is for people who work with families, children, young people, or others affected by the issues our services aim to prevent or reduce. This includes social workers, family support workers, youth workers, teachers, and charities or organisations that support children and families.

Youth Voice Panel

The Youth Voice Panel is for people aged 18–25 who have lived through situations our services aim to prevent or reduce. It gives us a chance to hear directly from those our services are designed to support.

For example, this Panel welcomes those who:

  • Have experienced one or more Adverse Childhood Experiences

  • Have experience of the care system as a child or young person

  • Have been supported by Children’s Social Services as a child or young person

  • Family would be eligible for one of our community programs

To apply to any panel, fill in this short online form.

A member of our team will then contact you from feedback@daybreakfgc.org.uk to give more information and arrange a brief phone call.

Focus Groups

Whether or not you are part of our Voice Panels, you can take part in our regular Focus Groups. These are one-off sessions where we look at key developments, such as improving a community project or shaping services for a specific group or community.

If you’d like to join future Focus Groups, you can sign up to receive invitations by completing a short form.

Tell your own story

At Daybreak, we value the voices of people who have taken part in our programmes. If you’d like to share your experience of how we supported you and your family, we’ll help you do that in a way that feels right for you. You can find out more about this by downloading our leaflet.

Subscribe to our Mailing Lists

Sometimes, we send surveys and feedback requests through our main mailing lists. For example, our annual Problem Solving Your Way survey asks how people in our communities find help when they face challenges.
