Five ways to get involved this December

2023 has seen families and communities manage increasing pressures from the rising cost of living, various industry strikes, and the prevalence of mental health for adults and children being a continued in-demand area for support. The families that we work work are often managing multiple pressures. Sometimes these pressures impact day-to-day life and well-being, and at other times, the impact extends to the safety of those in the family. To enable people to find a way forward, we work alongside families to identify and engage with their wider support network, including professional resources that they might benefit from. We bring everyone together, equipped and prepared, to devise a proactive, safe and sustainable support plan. Core to this plan is the voice of the child, sharing their feelings and views on their family’s situation.

We anticipate that these rising pressures will continue in 2024, and are therefore looking to expand the way that we work alongside families as part of our #MovingForward initiative, and help manage rising costs and needs for families through our #Thrive campaign.

If you are looking for a charity to support this December, we have five perfect ways to do so!

  1. Sign up for Easy Fundraising - by shopping via Easy Fundraising, brands will donate a percentage of your purchase price to Daybreak, at no cost to yourself. Win-win!

  2. Send a Daybreak Christmas Card - whether to family and friends or from your workplace, you can send a sustainable e-card and donate your usual postage costs instead!

  3. Play #PuzzlingWithDaybreak - play along with our newly launched weekly puzzle, and if you’ve enjoyed it, consider donating. Download our free winter puzzle sheet for children to play too!

  4. Nominate us for Benefact’s 12 Days of Giving before 17th December 2023 - they’ll select 12 charities to win £1000 every day over 12 days. Will you help us be one of them?

  5. Simply, donate - whether it’s £5 or £5000, it will help us to work effectively alongside families and communities, keeping people safe into 2024.

Whatever you choose to do, thank you for helping us to do more.

The festive season can also add pressure to everyday life for us all - we’ve compiled some tips for navigating the season and have a range of support organisations in our signpost directory to help people, families and communities be safe and thrive.
